TextaKids Privacy Notice for Children

TextaKids is a supervised messaging service. This notice explains what information we collect about child users, how we use it, and who can see it. A parent or guardian must read and accept the full Terms of Service on their account before a child can use this app.

1. Who we are

2. What we collect

• Account information – the phone number associated with the child's account and the display name chosen during sign-up.
• Messages – text messages sent and received by the child. TextaKids does not support image, video, or file attachments for child accounts.
• Activity logs – the number of messages sent and received per day and the number of minutes the app is used. These logs are retained for 90 days.
• Device identifier – a random ID for the device used to activate the account.

3. How we use the information

• To deliver messages to and from approved contacts.
• To allow a parent or guardian to monitor messaging activity through the parent app.
• To enforce daily time limits and bedtime windows set by the parent.
• To investigate misuse reports submitted by the parent.
• To maintain the security of our service.

We do not use child data for advertising, profiling, or machine-learning training. We do not sell child data to third parties.

4. Who can see the information

• Parent or guardian – can read all messages, view daily activity summaries, and see the child's contact list.
• MyTexta staff – may access data only for security, abuse-prevention, or legal-compliance purposes, subject to strict internal controls.
• Legal authorities – only when required by law and after legal review.

5. Contacts (allowlist)

The child can only exchange messages with people the parent has explicitly approved. The child cannot add contacts themselves.

6. Data retention

• Message activity logs are deleted after 90 days.
• Weekly digest summaries are deleted after 12 months.
• If the child's account is deleted, all associated data is purged within 30 days.

7. Children's privacy (COPPA)

TextaKids is designed for users under 13. We comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The parent or guardian provides verifiable parental consent by accepting our Terms of Service and enrolling the child. A parent may request deletion of their child's data at any time by writing to [email protected].

8. Changes to this notice

We will post an updated notice at least 30 days before any material change takes effect. The parent will be notified in the parent app.
